HORIBA MIRA

Creative Co-ordinator

During my time at HORIBA MIRA as the Creative Co-Ordinator within the Marketing Team. My responsibilities as the Creative Co-Ordinator include:

  • Creating multi-media creative content for the Marketing Team and the wider company

  • Developing engaging and current marketing assets, such as:

    • Brochures

    • Flyers

    • On-Site Branding

    • Presentations (internal & external)

    • Email campaigns

    • Event stands

    • Marketing photos and videos (for internal & external use)

  • Ensuring all material is in line with the company brand

As the in-house Graphic Designer at HORIBA MIRA, my primary work involved creating and maintaining promotional material, such as; photos, videos, presentations, printed marketing material and online content, including social media and the HORIBA MIRA website. All of my work contributed to the delivery of the communications plans (both internal and external) to meet the company’s strategic goals.

During my time at HORIBA MIRA, I took on a number of additional responsibilities including mentoring and inspiring junior members of the marketing team in digital design, sharing my technical knowledge and ensuring the visual identity of the brand was maintained. I also became the first point of contact for internal media support as the on site photographer/videographer and on occasion collaborated with the team that delivered high-end promotional content with external media providers. Within this position, I understood the requirements to promote and protect the reputation of the company.

As part of the internal communications strategy, I was responsible for the quarterly delivery of “Pulse”, our internal forum to share the recent works of the various departments in the company as well as sharing the business strategic goals to the wider company. This required consultation with senior stakeholders.

I also maintained the role of brand guardian, ensuring that all new content created was aligned with the company’s branding and suitably archived with all other assets for future use.

In Memorey of Derek

The hardest design work I've had to do.

Derek Charters was a senior engineer, who had been at the company for nearly 25 years, unfortunately he suddenly passed away in January 2016. He was a well respected engineer in the future transport technologies and consequently the company received a lot of messages of condolences for his family. Instead of forwarding these onto his family we decided to bring them all together into a book to give to the family in one go.

I was fortunate enough to have known Derek, I often ate lunch with him and discovered what a brilliant and entertaining man he was, as well as being a fellow scout leader. But it wasn't until I started bringing together the messages of condolences that I realise just how much fun he was and what a big impact he had on so many people in the company. Even now, there is an obvious gap in peoples lives (particularly at lunch time) that hasn't healed and probably won't be.

I personally hand delivered the books to Derek's widow, which was just as hard as writing the book, but I saw the gratitude that this book brought. Recently I have heard that the book has traveled far and wide with Derek's Father to all the extended family, they are equally thankful for the book.
