Unity 2018

UNITY is an international guide camp organised by Girlguiding Staffordshire which is held every four years. Heavily involved in the media team, I was tasked with developing the brand along with capturing and sharing all the events from the camp to internal and external audiences.

Creating The Brand for UNITY 2018

Each camp has a new theme which in turn requires a new brand. The theme for the 2018 camp was “#inmyelement”. With this theme in mind, the branding was generated around the four elements: Earth, Air, Fire and Water. The most important aspect of this job was to keep it simple for volunteers to use in conjunction with Normal Girlguiding UK branding.

A very simple set of brand guidelines for the camp to ensure consistency in all assets created by different teams.

Facebook Frame

The organisation team were very keen to spread the word of UNITY before the camp, this is where an army of volunteers and Facebook came together. A lot of leaders and young people going to UNITY updated their Facebook profile with the designed frame. One of the key features of this frame is that when viewed in your newsfeed (where profile pictures appear as a circle) you can still read the words UNITY 2018 and #Inmyelement. See below just a snapshot of the popularity of the Frame.

Camp Videos

During the camp, my time was split between taking photos, capturing videos, processing photos, editing videos and in the evenings creating a daily newsletter.

Camp Photos

With a media team of 5, we nearly took nearly 10,000 photos over 9 days of the young people enjoying themselves on camp, below are just a handful of my top photos.
